Information

Tadley Scouts are inviting members from Silchester District to join our virtual St. George's Day Celebration over Zoom. Alongside the renewal of the promise, we are pleased to announce we have two guest speakers attending.

Cathy Pynn is an Assistant Priest at St Luke’s in Pamber Heath and is the District Chaplain for Silchester. She will open the event by explaining the legend of St. George and why we celebrate St. George's Day as Scouts. Afterwards, she will be giving an opening prayer.

Following the renewal of the promise by section leaders from Tadley, James Ketchell will share his story. James is an adventurer and motivational speaker as well as a Hampshire Scouts Ambassador. He has taken part in lots of different expeditions around the world.

He is the first and only person to have: rowed across the Atlantic Ocean; successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world. In 2019 he flew his open cockpit gyroplane over 24,000 nautical miles circumnavigating the planet in 175 days.

He will cover how he set achievable goals and secured sponsorship and support for his expeditions. As well as how he physically prepared himself, and what experiences these challenges threw at him. We are very excited to have James join us and showcase the amazing adventures he has been on.

You should receive the necessary information from your leaders regarding this celebration event, along with how to login via Zoom. If you do not, please contact the leaders from your group. If you have any further questions, contact us.
